Yep, I’m going there.  I love this product so much that letting it be known at the risk of causing any temporary public uncomfortableness is more than worth it.

Lower your risk of toxic shock syndrome, save money, help the environment, AND make your life easier. YES, all of this is true! This is not a sponsored post. I just truly believe in this product.

A little over one year ago, my friend Clare shared with me her unusually high Whole Foods bill and shared that her new DivaCup was the culprit(you can buy them at Target or CVS for about $30 FYI). I was immediately enthralled and went to my local Whole Foods the next day and bought myself a DivaCup and (after a quick on-the-spot google search on my phone for hygeine products to use with it) also bought the DivaWash to use with it. And I’ve never looked back.

One year later, I’ve saved over 12 cycles of tampons, pads, and time that I would have otherwise spent changing said tampons and pads throughout my cycles. What I have gained is so much more valuable!

Besides the cost savings and the benefits for the environment that drove me to try out this product, unexpectedly MY FAVORITE benefit of the DivaCup is the fact that it only needs to be changed every 12 hours! And lots of times I can go even longer than that. So I literally forget I even have my period except for those 2 minutes twice a day when I’m emptying out my cup. It’s AMAZING! LOVE LOVE LOVE.

You might be hesitant that it will be gross. I was definitely grossed out at first. But let me assure you, that grossed-out-ness doesn’t last long. For me, it was completely gone after one cycle. And if you know me, you know I DO NOT DO WELL WITH BLOOD. So if I can get used to it, you can get used to it, too! Just get yourself through that first inital cycle and you’ll be on your way to a better period experience, saving money, and helping the environment in no time at all!

Also, I would recommend buying the DivaWash product for cleaning. You don’t want to mess around with soaps down there. Spend the extra bucks to make sure you buy a trusted pH balancing soap that is safe for your body. I bought my DivaWash at the same time as the DivaCup, and it has lasted me over a year. I actually have a coupon that came with the bottle that expires December 31, 2016. I’ve saved it all this time because I thought FOR SURE it would come in handy, but I haven’t even needed to buy another bottle yet!

**Updates 4/9/2017**:

  1. Diva Cups should be replaced after about a year.
  2. Since writing this, I’ve embarked on a journey to transition to a more non-toxic lifestyle. As such, I’m no longer 100% thrilled about all of the ingredients in DivaWash. I’ve searched each ingredient on None are BAD, but “Cocamidopropyl Betaine” is rated a 4, which is “good”, but not perfect. By no means would I call Diva Wash “toxic”, but because my non-toxic standards are so high right now, I am on the hunt for a more non-toxic alternative!

Thanks for stopping by!
